Stainless Steel 316/316L Heat Exchanger Tubing consists mostly of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, greatly enhancing its corrosion resistance, particularly against chlorides and acidic environments. Having tensile strength of up to 580 MPa and high ductility, it provides structural integrity under high-stress conditions. The major benefits are resistance to high temperatures, better weldability, and high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. 316L, the low-carbon form, offers greater resistance to sensitization after welding.
